Did you know... ...during World War II the United States forced all southamerican countries in the Pacific Coast [México, Colombia, Perú, etc] to declare war to Japan as a sign of support the ally cause and to avoid trade with the asian country. However we never sent a single ship, man or cargo we were theorically at war with Japan. When the conflict ended everybody rushed to declare peace with Japan and start the rebuilding of the world...except for one little country. Here in Chile we totally forgot about this war declaration. We never really participated and we had better things to worry about...like looking at the clouds; so we didnt care, we forgot it and kept living our lifes. It was until 1950 (thats FIVE YEARS!! after the official wars end) that the japanese THEMSELVES came here and said you know...we have been in a war during the last 5 years, do you wanna end it?. Of course the chilean government was shocked since they didnt remember anything...and signed it little after. So you can say that Chile is actually THE LAST COUNTRY IN THE WORLD to finish World War II. Pretty cool, isnt it? More amazing facts and stories if you go on exchange to Chile :D [or Japan...lol]
