Did you know self confidence can be a sin? I had never thought about it until studying our Sunday School lesson. While self confidence is important to some extent, it becomes a sin when we have more confidence in ourselves than we do God. This kinda flies in the face of everything the world teaches us. I think our self confidence should be based on our confidence in Christ. We should strive to cultivate a relationship with the Lord that is so filling that we can be confident that our decisions are being lead by the Holy Spirit. Our lesson this morning laid it out very unapologetically that we must empty our vessel from self and worldly lust so that The Holy Spirit can fill us. When we are saved we the Holy Spirit indwells us. We then can either allow Him to completely fill us, or we can quench Him by filling up on self. It is my prayer to decrease so that He may increase within me.
