Did you know that Castle Rock will be holding a special election in August to decide to keep or repeal the current Open Carry Ban? Castle Rock Mayor, Paul Donahue was interviewed by Joe America this week. Take a listen to what he has to say about this. Vote YES to restore liberty (and yes, we have to vote to uphold the Constitution). There are so many things wrong with this argument. Here are my top 3: 1. We do NOT live in a democracy! We live in a Constitutional Republic. This means that we elect officials to make decisions on our behalf. To this end, we need to be informed about who we are putting in office and have confidence that they will make decisions based on our best interests. I for one, am all in favor of the Castle Rock Town Council voting in FAVOR of RESTORING our 2nd Amendment rights. That is why I voted for the member that I voted for. We have similar values and believe in the same things. 2.. There is no brandishing in CO. We do have a Menacing law. It is illegal to wave your gun around in a manner to cause fear, look it up. Last I checked, walking around town with a holstered weapon on my hip was not considered menacing. 3. You MUST have a background check when you buy a gun in the state of CO. This includes buying from gun stores, *gun shows* (yes, background checks are done at the gun show) and private sales. (Although, good luck finding some one to do a background check for a private sale these days. There are many more issues that I have with the argument to vote against this ballot initiative, just not enough time in the day to break it down. Please be informed and vote! -Jenna
