Did you know that I face between 5 and many hundreds of Hong Kong police officers every day. They are men and women officers, low ranking and high ranking. I can remain calm. REMEMBER: 7 steps for Hong Kongers to know. Written below. 1. Ask the officer to allow you to have the time to take out your phone and record (video is best) your entire conversation. Stay calm as you take this first step. 2. State all the officers in attendance ID numbers into the recording. If they are plain clothes ask for their police ID card. If they refuse they have broken the law. 3. Ask why you are being questioned. 4. Ask if you are under arrest? And if not, ask if you are free to go. If you are told no or restrained at this point, the police officer has broken the law on unlawful detention. 5. Ask what crime you have committed if they continue to question you. 6. Ask for a lawyer and remain silent. 7. Comply with the officers directions once you are placed under arrest. Print out the 1-7 above and carry it with you in your wallet. Then calmly pull the instructions out when you are stopped and questioned. In this way you will not forget what to do.
