Did you know that: Nintendo on 1 Dec 1999 released 64DD, an expansion peripheral for N64 that contained an internal clock and allowed data writing and was used to build persistent world games and a creative suite, it also allowed online competitive multiplayer. The most impressive piece of software was Mario Talent Studio, a suite containing a (for the time) outstanding raster graphic program, a easy to use 3d modeler (models could be sent through the net to receive a paper fold 3d print from Nintendo) and other functions like painting textures and using photographs as textures, creating custom characters. Models could be used in few compatible games. The peripheral was anyway a commercial failure and very few titles were released for it, other titles were postponed and adapted for Nintendo next console, the GameCube. https://youtube/watch?v=7hSphL_xySs
