Did you know that THE GAMBIA is the smallest country in mainland Africa? It is placed in west of Africa and is surrounded by Senegal which is the only neighbour of Gambia! The Gambia is situated on either side of the Gambia River, the nations namesake, which flows through the centre of the Gambia and empties into the Atlantic Ocean. For a long time it has been a British colony, after 1965 of gaining independence, English is still an official language in country. With its beautiful beaches, tropical climate, extremely hospitable people and richness of bird species tourism takes a big part (16% GDP) of Gambian income (Average annual income for one person is £200).
