Did you know that anti conservation forces have decided to cut the funding for the Northern St Louis County Soil and Water Conservation District? Did you know this can be stopped! Attend the next meeting of the St. Louis County Board and tell the board what you think of their pressure to silence our officials who dont go along with their anti conservation point of view. Services will be cut! Here are the services they cannot afford to provide as a result of these cuts. : They most likely cannot afford the tree sale. They cannot answer citizen calls for conservation technical assistance. They cannot do site visits for conservation technical assistance. They cannot assist citizens with general conservation information. They cannot assist citizens with forestry information They cannot assist citizens with shoreline erosion information They cannot assist citizens with Wetland Conservation Act Information They cannot write plans for vegetation or erosion control They cannot assist citizens with weed or invasive species control. They cannot assist citizens with re-vegetation and plan design for their home or shoreline The cuts hurt the citizens of North St. Louis County. We cannot provide most of the services they have come to expect and are needed. This is a tiny amount of the county budget and does not come from the general fund, but rather comes from the fund from Tax forfeit land sales. The South District itself resolved to seek only an even split, and county administration proposed an even split. The cuts were to a specific part of our budget for technical services. They actually give no legitimate or logical reason for the cuts, so the conclusion is obvious. The commissioners have made good on their prior threats, and chosen to take it out on this small agency and the citizens of North St. Louis County.
