Did you know that as of January 1, 2014, the section of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA), titled "NON-DISCRIMINATION IN HEALTH CARE" will go into effect. This section of the law will prohibit insurance companies from discriminating against any practitioners practicing within the guidelines of their state licensing board. In states that license midwives, they will be covered by insurance. (same for other licensed health care professions). Mississippi is one of 22 states that do not license midwives.
