Did you know that dogs can be trained to respond to sounds such as smoke alarms, door bells, telephones, alarm clocks, and even crying babies and can then alert their owners to the sound. Normally these dogs, called Hearing Ear Dogs, after hearing the sound will make physical contact with their owner and lead then to the source of the sound. The dog is trained to react and alert their owner differently depending on the type of sound they have heard. A Hearing Ear Dog can be any size or breed and the training period for these dogs is about 6 months.
