Did you know that heart disease and oral health are linked? Research has found that individuals with periodontal disease are more likely to have heart disease than those with healthy gums. The bacteria which causes periodontal disease can dislodge and enter the bloodstream. Once in the bloodstream it can attach to blood vessels and increase clot formation. This raises blood pressure which can increase the risk of a heart attack. Next time youre in the office make sure you ask Dr. D about warning signs and symptoms!
