Did you know...that in January of 1989 members of the Imperial Sovereign Court of the Wild Rose (Edmonton, Alberta) visited Saskatoon, Saskatchewan to perform at the local nightclub “Numbers” and began the discussion of sponsoring a sister court in Saskatoon. The following month on February 5th a group of the local drag queen entertainers formally organized to put on the first coronation and royally invest a court. Born was THE NEW ROYALIST SOCIAL SOCIETY OF CENTRAL SASKATCHEWAN also known as The Imperial Sovereign Court of the Prairie Lily. Following shortly after in March the ISCRL presented the first Mr. And Ms. Gay Saskatoon Pageant and Dance, held in the Manhattan Ballroom at the Holiday Inn Saskatoon. Over 130 people attended the event; and the panel of judges included Canadian Member of Parliament Chris Axworthy. Then on June 17, 1989 again back at the Manhattan Ballroom Coronation I “Midnight Carousel Ball” was held and witnessed the crowning of Emperor I Ghedo Philipchuk and Empress I Miss K (Jim Stevenson). The following May 18, 1990 a ceremony inducting Baron I Dan W. and Baroness I Anita Lay of Regina was held at the Scarth Street Station marking the founding of the Imperial Court in Regina, Saskatchewan. The Regal Social Association of Regina (RSAR) is also known as the Imperial Court of the Golden Wheat Sheaf Empire. Within a short 4 months on September 8, 1990 the Imperial Court of the Golden Wheat Sheaf presented its first Coronation Ball at the Scarth Street Station where Dale and Wilma Finger Foo were crowned first Emperor and Empress of Regina. Below is a list of the Coronation Ball Dates, Themes, Locations, and Crowning Victors of Saskatoon, SK. This is but a brief outline that is a rich interwoven part of the history of the International Court System. This once in a lifetime publication will tell the history of 50 years of Noble Deeds and each Court (active or not). Each Court will have one page detailing their history, traditions and accomplishments. There is no cost to your Court for the production of this program or your Courts page. But, because we know each Courts story is part of a rich tapestry of many different stories and points of view, we need your input ASAP! To truly tell the story of the International Court System, we need participation from each Court. No one person or group can truly tell the the story of all of us. Please be a part by completing the survey for your Canadian Court at ICS50.org/history. The results will be shared with each Court Board for review, and the final information will be presented in this historic document. Do It Today! H.I.M.
