Did you know? ... that is Eski Gumus, a Byzantine monastery in near the site of Nigde (Turkey), from 10 / 11th century (some sources claim that from the 8th century). Specific in that it is carved into the rock, and the aim of such a construction was to camouflage and hide from the invaders. That what is discovered only in 1963 year, means that camouflage was very successful. The entrance was guarded by a huge block of stone, and from the yard was entered into the cells of monks. Behind them is a church with valuable frescoes and the only one at the world at which is the Virgin Mary, smiling.
