Did you know that most volcanos in the Cascades are pyroclastic, meaning that they generally tend to explode from pressure from within from gases like sulfur ect. Causing an ash cloud or what have you...What most people dont realise is that Mt.Hood isnt like that, because magma tubes are closer to the surface on Mt.Hood, it is more of a lava spewing volcano, similar to Hawaiis volcanos. The last 2 documentations of Mt.Hoods eruptions were around 1803-1805 that Lewis & Clark wrote about in their journals during their travels along the Oregon Trail that describe ared, glowing mountain at night and it is also referenced in a few articles in the Oregonian newspaper in the mid 1850s as doing the same thing....
