Did you know that over 80% of Tanzanias population live in rural areas? That means that a HUGE portion of the countrys population rely on agriculture for survival. However, access to water is seriously limited in many parts of the country and so growing vegetables and other nutritious food staples is often made impossible. Its for this reason that some 42 percent of children aged under five years of age are stunted & malnourished and eight out of 10 children under one are anaemic. One of GSC Tanzanias major challenges is to enable rural communities to grow vegetables despite limited resources and water, with our goal being improved nutrition and food security.
