Did you know that some of our Santa Ana School Police Officers are also certified Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT’s)? A handful of our officers have attended the California Institute of Emergency Medical Training (CIEMT), a private institution; CIEMT’s professional staff has provided our officers with over 160 hours of training. National certification is then gained through the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT). Police officers can at times, arrive at the scene of an emergency up to several minutes before paramedics arrive. Having police officers certified as EMT’s will allow for prompt medical care to be facilitated immediately. Santa Ana School Police Officers, who are certified EMT’s, may be recognized in the field with the “blue star of life” which can be seen on their patrol vehicles.
