Did you know that white dogs and dogs with very little hair - TopicsExpress

Did you know that white dogs and dogs with very little hair benefit from sunscreen? When they will are outside for long periods of time in the hot sun, they can burn just like us fair-skinned humans! Its important to use sunscreen for such occasions. In fact, use either sunscreen designed for dogs (which we will have at EAH in a couple weeks) OR you can use baby sunscreen - SPF 15 or 30. Just make sure it contains UVA AND UBV barriers. Rub sunscreen in well in sensitive places like the lips, ears, groin, inside of the legs, and belly if your pup likes to roll over a lot outside. Since cats are even more sensitive creatures, baby sunscreen is NOT a good option for them. Fair skinned kitties who spend time in the sun really should buy cat-specific sunscreen (which we will also have soon!). Spread the word so we can help limit the cat and dog burns out there - just like in people, it increases the chance of skin cancer! **Thank you to our great client, Heidi, for bringing up this important and timely topic!** Be safe, friends!
