Did you know the national debt exceeds $17 trillion? UCF Up to Us Lead Casey Field is looking for your support and participation to get UCF national recognition! From Casey: UCF was chosen as one of twenty-five schools to compete in the Up to Us Competition this year. Up to Us is a competition sponsored by the Clinton Global Initiative University, Net Impact and the Peter G. Peterson Foundation. The competition encourages student leaders to raise awareness of the federal debt on their college campuses and present innovative nonpartisan solutions to the issues. In order to win, UCF needs the Knight Nation’s support! The UCF Up to Us team just launched the program in the Student Union. They will be continuing their efforts on market Wednesdays, as well as February 4th and February 14th. “the DEBaTe” will be a fun student event held on Memory Mall February 4th at 7:30PM, in which students can participate in the Debt Solutions Competition, Dance to the Debt, eat pizza, win prizes, and listen to prominent economists in the field. UCF Up to Us will host a Valentine’s Day event with UCF’s very own “Debt Knight” on February 14th at 7:00 PM in the Cape Florida Ballroom to support Junior Achievement. The US debt falls into the hands of the Millennial generation and the UCF Up to Us Knights are asking for student participation in the following activities to help spread the word and get people involved. 1. Attend events hosted by UCF Up to Us 2. Share bus.ucf.edu/uptous with your organizations and colleges and have students take the debt quiz (10-15 seconds of your time) 3. Encourage students to like UCF Up to Us page on Facebook at (facebook/ucfuptous) 4. Create a “Up to Us” poster with your organization and submit the picture/video of your team holding the poster to facebook/ucfuptous before February 4th The organization with the most participation will receive an award at the end of the competition (Feb. 21st). youtube/watch?v=yBnO6oOu2EQ
