Heres your chance to hear this great music again on January 27th! artsandartistsatstpaul.org/ Broadway’s Future Songbook Series: James Olmstead and Omri Schein Broadway’s Future Songbook Series — presented by Arts and Artists at St. Paul — continues on Monday, January 27th in the Bruno Walter Auditorium at the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts at Lincoln Center. Directed, hosted and produced by John Znidarsic, the evening spotlights the songs of the award-winning writing team of James Olmstead (composer) and Omri Schein (lyricist). Show time is 6 PM and admission is free. This concert will feature selections from Gary Goldfarb: Master Escapist. This new musical (by Olmstead and Schein) was the winner of the 2013 NYMF Award for Excellence in Writing (Lyrics) and the winner of the first annual NYMF/Steele Spring Stage Rights Publishing Award. This show follows Gary Goldfarb, an overweight Jewish boy who struggles through high school and fights for his dreams. He’s incessantly bullied. He’s trying to get the hot Indian Jewish girl to notice him. His over-bearing mother is far too much to handle. All Gary can do is escape thru the world of magic. With a catchy musical theatre score, Gary Goldfarb: Master Escapist conjures up the magic, foolishness, and hilarity of high school romance. CAST: Anne L. Nathan (Once, Thoroughly Modern Millie), Michael McCormick (Curtains, Elf, Chaplin) Jared Loftin, (Winner of an Outstanding Individual Performance Award at NYMF 2013), Krista Buccellato (National Tour of Peter Pan), Shoba Narayanan, (Bunty Berman Presents), and Dimitri Moise. The New York Public Library for the Performing Arts Bruno Walter Auditorium is located at 111 Amsterdam Avenue and 65th Street.
