Did you serve a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter - TopicsExpress

Did you serve a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (Mormon) church? Where did you serve? Heres a great story (follow story link below) from NPRs All Things Considered about the Mormon Missionary Training Centers. The 15 Missionary Training Centers (MTC) world-wide are no secret for the 80,000+ missionaries for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints who are serving each year, but tend to be a bit of a mystery to those outside of the church. For LDS individuals who are called to serve, the MTC is the first critical training stop for orientation and language study prior to flying out to the assigned missions. Mormons tend to be highly industrious folks - Lets just say that the military, and multi-national corporations have tried to emulate the language training process with little luck. What generally takes about 64 weeks to accomplish on language training for organizations, the MTC does for missionaries in 9 weeks with less than 1% defection rate. My experience in the Provo Utah MTC prior to serving in Ohio Columbus Mission for 2 years back in 1993 was a whirlwind of training and instruction, and excellent preperation for what would become one of the most spiritually intense experiences of my life, naming, serving the Lord as His emmisary full time with humility and love for the wonderful people in Ohio.
