Did you witness an assault in Doncaster? Police in Doncaster are appealing for information following a serious assault, which caused a man to suffer with a double broken jaw, leaving him unable to speak. Officers received reports of an incident on Hall Gate, opposite the Army Recruitment Office, at around 4.30am on Sunday, 25 January. Police believe that a 25-year-old Doncaster man was walking from Lazarus Court, towards Hall Gate, when he accidentally bumped into an unknown man who was walking in the opposite direction. As a result, it is then alleged that the unknown man accused the Doncaster man of being clever, before punching him once in the face. The Doncaster man was taken to hospital, where he underwent surgery for two fractures to the jaw. The unknown man, who was believed to be with a group of other men at the time of the assault, is described as a black, over 6ft tall, of muscular build. He is thought to have been wearing a hooded top. DC Szedzielarz said: “We have launched an investigation into the circumstances of this assault. The 25-year-old man was left with serious injuries and we would appreciate any assistance from members of the public who witnessed the assault.” Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101 quoting incident number 480 of 26 January 2015.
