Didnt feel like driving home, so Im in the Motel 6 in Petaluma. Ive stayed here before and given up on it, but theres a big REMODELED sign out front and Ill only be here a few hours, so why not? I had to show more ID to register than I give the TSA, and more than it took to get into the Justice Dept. in DC. Theres apparently no cell phone service anywhere in the building--half a dozen people are standing in the parking lot shouting, No, PETALUMA! The cable setup gets about 20 channels, none of which I watch at home. They still have the prices jacked for the Sonoma NASCAR race, which was yesterday, and my towel, singular, is as thin and delicate as a doily. When I misplaced my card with the password for the free wifi (which cost $2.99, according to my bill), I had to argue to get a new one. But I do have my own bar of soap, about as big as $1 in quarters. I may upgrade to Super 8 next time.
