Didnt get the news I was hoping for yesterday from the doctor. My right knee is locking up on me when I try to walk or when I sleep. He wants to do an MRI to see if anything is torn or out of whack. MRI is now scheduled for Thursday afternoon. He mentioned that my tibia fracture hasnt healed properly, its lined up correctly, just hasnt healed already. Which is hindering me from putting all my weight on it to be able to walk. He said I would be having a 3rd surgery, but it depends on my knee MRI. He suggested 2 different surgeries, of course none sounded appealing. Surgery #1-take the current rod out (2 ft rod) and the screw at the knee, bore (drill) the hole in the bone out to allow better circulation and insert a new rod. He said he could secure at ankle with cement, but I would still have screw at knee. Surgery #2-take the current hardware out totally and insert plates and screws at fracture, using bone from my hip around the fracture to graph it together. Of course, I would be back to where I was after first surgery in July. Another major setback! But no decision til after MRI on knee. If anything is torn in the knee then it will have to be fixed first. Praying nothing is torn in the knee, so we can move to next procedure to get me back on my feet again, even if its another surgery. Im anxious to get back to work, tired of sitting at home. My STD benefits ran out Sunday, waiting to hear if my LTD benefits have kicked in yet.
