Iran has spent billions building the facilities (called Assaluyeh) for extraction and processing and are ready to sell gas to the world. Gas from Assaluyeh could make the Nabucco pipeline a reality, as the original plan fell through, mostly due to instability in Iraq. As this pipeline has been vigorously promoted by the U.S., you can bet that behind the scenes negotiations are happening.
