Didnt think Id be asked to do this, but here goes: Six things you may not know about me: 1) I twin-fiddled onstage in a Broadway musical with the actors Kevin Kline and Barry Bostwick. 2) I co-wrote with Tony Trischka ( one of the few tunes Tony has co-written with anyone) the tune Dust On The Needle which was featured on his album of the same name 3) I was in a Klezmer group with Andy Statman where we developed the repertoire that he later featured and recorded with David Grisman on the album Songs Of Our Fathers 4) I was first exposed to oldtime songs while attending a Yeshiva in Brooklyn 5) I had a serious learning disability as a child . Didnt start talking until i was about 5 . Had a serious problem reading and taught myself to read by reading the inserts of Folkways records, that I had borrowed from the library - because it grabbed my interest. Many of those liner notes were written by Mike Seeger. So -in a way - Mike Seeger taught me how, or at least encouraged me - to read . 6) My first oldtime string band, Wretched Refuse, was the first band to play at Hillys a bar in Manhattan which became CBGBs (the Legendary Punk Palace) - the Ramones opened for us there.
