Died on this Date: HARRY M. ALTICK, proprietor of the Dayton Engine Works, was well known in the industrial circles. He was of German decent and was the son of William Altick, and was from one of the old and well known families of Dayton. Harry was born in Dayton, spending his entire life in the city. Although he was the youngest member of his family, he had been the actual head of his household. Following his higher learning at the Miami Commercial College, he became involved in the machinery business. Mr. Altick became a bookkeeper as an employee of the Woodell Machine Co. of which he gained a great deal of experience and eventually accumulated enough finances to purchase the company, becoming sole owner. The factory was located on the corner of Sears and Market Streets. On October 14, 1891, he married Estella Knerr. Her father, Louis, was a retired paper manufacturer who made his home in the Northridge area. Mr. Altick served as Justice of Peace in Harrison Township. Harry M. Altick passed away on Nov. 14, 1919 at the age of 55. He is located in Sec. 103 Lot 2209. His wife Estella Knerr passed away on June 29, 1956 at the age of 90.
