Diego Costa has made a truly brilliant start to his Chelsea - TopicsExpress

Diego Costa has made a truly brilliant start to his Chelsea career. Signed from Atletico Madrid in the summer transfer window for a reported fee of £32 million, the Spain international striker has taken by the Premier League by storm. The 26-year-old has scored nine goals in just seven league appearances, while creating 11 chances for his teammates. Costa has a laudable shot accuracy of 84% and a pass accuracy of 78%, and comparisons have already been made between him and Didier Drogba. Drogba is a Chelsea legend and one of the greatest strikers to have ever played in the Premier League, and many football pundits have claimed that Costa could go on to achieve what the Ivorian did at Stamford Bridge. Frank Lampard, himself a Chelsea legend and now on loan at Manchester City from New York City FC, seems to be of a similar opinion. Possibly yes, the former England international midfielder told Jamie Redknapp on Sky Sports when asked if Costa can be as good as Drogba. There is a long way to go, but in terms of attributes and what he can do, his body and the way he plays, the direct nature of his game, I think he can. He has to do it now over a long course. As Lampard points out, Costa has a long way to go before he can be elevated to the level of Drogba. The Brazilian-born star is a late bloomer and has come to the fore in the past two years, but he is without doubt a world-class striker.
