Diet & Exercise for Your Min Pin DIET Min Pins should be sleek - TopicsExpress

Diet & Exercise for Your Min Pin DIET Min Pins should be sleek and trim, with a discernible waistline. DO NOT OVERFEED YOUR DOG, and do not free-feed (food always available). Overweight dogs are prone to hip and joint problems, heart problems and diabetes. Most Min Pins, fed a diet of premium quality kibble, should eat about 1/4c. to 1/2c. of food per day (depending on the dog’s size and activity level). Some may need more, some less. Keep in mind that treats count toward your dog’s total consumption for the day. EXERCISE Dogs need exercise -- at least two hours per day of “puppy aerobics” such as playing ball or Frisbee, running, swimming or playing with another dog. Walking (unless you power walk or jog) is not sufficient – but it is great for socializing your dog. Exercise is important to their physical and mental well-being. Sufficiently exercised dogs are less prone to “hyper” behavior, and are less likely to get into trouble indoors. Mental exercise is important too. Obedience training, teaching tricks, playing hide and seek, un-stuffing a KONG toy packed with his breakfast or dinner, playing with a “treat ball” that dispenses his meal one kernel at a time – all are great forms of mental exercise for your Min Pin.
