Difference is Mercy As you may be aware, the reason for writing this short thesis, is there has recently sprouted a group of sunni Vigilantes who due to difference of opinion in issues of principle are taking people out of the Methodology (Maslak) of Imam Ahmad Rida Khan Al-Qadiri. There claim is the one who differs in issues of jurisprudence with the Grand Master Imam Ahmad Rida Khan is no longer form his Methodology. You may ask, whats the big deal? The deal is this; We love Imam Ahmad Rida Khan Al-Qadiri, It is due to him that the creed of the AhluSunnah is preserved in the subcontinent and His reach spread as far as the blessed sanctified lands. We have lived our lives and will live our final breaths affiliated with the Imam, so who is any Zahid, Bakr or Amr to take us out of the (methodology) Maslak-e-Alaa Hazrat. I begin with this prophetic narration from the Jami as-Saghir of Imam Suyuti (and many other works), “The differences of my nation are a mercy”, from which we come to learn that the differences of opinion amongst the scholars of the Nation of The Beloved (peace be upon Him) are Mercy upon The Muslims. We must acknowledge that within the Muslims there are principle differences, each group of scholars follow their own opinion based on the respective proof and these opinions then further become a means for the Muslims to have ease in there lives. In case this doubt arises that, why are there all these difference of opinions, follow directly from the pious predecessors (Salaf us Saliheen), surely you will find one way? My dear friend, this concept of conflicting opinions, is not something which arose in later generations, rather it is narrated in Jami Bayan that ‘Abdur Rahman ibn Qasim narrates from his father, that he said, “I very much like the saying of Umar ibn ‘Abd al-‘Aziz “I would not like if they companions of the Prophet did NOT disagree, because if there was only one view in a matter, then the people would have been in hardship. The companions were leaders whom people followed. If a person takes their view, he would have the liberty to do so. It is mentioned in Kash al-Khifa that once Caliph Haroon Ar-Rashid said to Imam Malik, “O Abu ‘Abdullah, we will make copies of these books (the books of Malik) and spread them in the Islamic empire so that we can make Muslims practice upon it.” Imam Malik replied, “O lead of the faithfuls, differences of the Scholars is a blessing which Allah has bestowed upon this Nation. Each [scholar] follows that which is correct according to him, each one is on guidance, and each one desires [the pleasure of] Allah. These words of the Grand Jurist of his era should be engraved on the hearts and minds of those whom forsake, forget and renounce this ethic. Islam is a universal religion; for every race, language and culture, for every time, era and period. What causes it to be universal until the end of time? It is the fact that the laws of Shariah are not in the hands of lay members of society, not in the hands of those who do not understand this majestic duty of preserving the religion. Rather in the hands of the true inheritors of the prophets (peace be upon them all), the likes of the aforementioned Imam Malik. It is due to this mind-set of these Jurists that the religion has come to us Muslims of today, there actions and understanding that, we cannot enforce onto others is the cause by means of which the religion has expanded and is expanding until today. And then you have the Vigilantes of today, who do not hold the sufficient foresight to see the repercussions of what they are saying. It is said in the Urdu language Aqal mand kai liyai Ishaara hi kafi hai (an indication is enough for the intelligent), my version of this, in my native tongue is Bay Aqlan nal Ishaaray kafi nai! (Indicating is not enough for the unintelligent). Those whom have heard these prophetic narrations and still decide to waltz around either online, or on a stage where only those are standing whom hold the same opinion and Criticise and Insult those who do not share the same opinion in issues of principle should acknowledge there mistake in doing so. One of the issues upon which there are clear differences of opinions which was brought forth was Watching, Being on, Recording (being affiliated with) Television or Video Recordings. There claim was this is Religiously Impermissible. This is a valid view of the scholars of the AhluSunnah, But the vigilantes also included those who do not follow this opinion are out of the methodology of Imam Ahmad Rida Khan, hence not allowing for there to be a second opinion. There are vast works on this topic by some of the most noteworthy scholars of this era, the likes of Janashin-e-Mufti-e-Azam-e-Hind, Allamah Mufassir-e-Quran, Shaykh-ul-Islam Huzoor Madani Mian Ashrafi Jilani (may Allah preserve Him) with a forward (and Clarification) written by Ghazali-e-Zamaan, Raazi-e-Dauraan, Allamah Syed Ahmad Saeed Shah Kazmi (may His Soul be Sanctified). If Allah Almighty wills, I will write a short piece on this. But keeping this thesis short and sweet. I will now show the repercussions of disallowing an alternative view. Here are some statistics, There are : - 63,047,162 Muslims in the UK (2.7% of the population) with a total of 1,500 Masajid. - 313,847,465 Muslims in the USA (1.7% of the population) with a total of 1,209 Masajid. If you were to say that it IS impermissible to watch television. As a result, all those whom do watch television would be deemed, Transgressors. According to the Unanimous agreement of Hanafi Jurist, Salah is Sahih yet not Kamil behind a transgressive Imam. Hence the Salah is rendered Necessary to Repeat (Wajib-ul-Iadah). Amongst these Masajid approx. 900 belong to The Hanifi school, so lets say there are 10 Masajid which follow the opinion that you are expressing (10 Imams more so, not Masajid. I highly doubt that also to be honest). Your disallowing of alternative opinions will have to result in you accepting that Salah 890 MASAJID in the UK is not Complete in its perfect form and needs to be repeated. “The differences of my nation are a mercy”!!! #IHaventEvenStarted #GotTired #OnlyPartOneOfMany #LikeAndShare
