Differently abled persons have great talent, their encouragement is our duty: Mian Altaf Distributes prosthetic and orthotic aids among 125 beneficiaries of Ganderbal GANDERBAL, DECEMBER 04: Describing differently abled persons an important part of society who are enriched with best talent, the Minister for Forest Environment and Ecology, Mian Altaf Ahmad today said that it is duty of all to encourage these people in improving their socio-economic status besides involving these people in day to day affairs like other parts of society. He said that the differently abled persons too deserve a dignified life by getting proper rehabilitation, education and proper healthcare. The Minister was addressing a Disbursement cum Awareness Camp at Wayil Ganderbal which was jointly organized by Hope Disability Centre Ganderbal in joint collaboration of Departments of Social Welfare, Education and District Administration Ganderbal here on Wednesday. On the occasion, Forest Minister distributes prosthetic and orthotic aids including 15 wheel chairs, 30 crutches, 35 hearing aids, 15 toilet chairs, 25 corner chairs, 5 tri cycles among 125 identified beneficiaries of Ganderbal district provided by Hope Disability Centre, Ganderbal. The Minister also distributed cheques to the tune of Rs. 24,000 among 30 beneficiaries as pension from Social Welfare Department Mian Altaf said that Differently-abled persons have great talent and they have proven their capability not only in performing day to day affairs but in administrative affairs and sports activities as well. ‘’Such persons are source of inspirations for rest of society”, he added. The Minister said they needs appreciation and encouragement entitled to the realization of all human rights and fundamental freedoms on equal terms with others in society, without discrimination of any kind. He urged upon the differently abled persons to exhibit active participation in all aspects of social, economic, political and cultural life of society besides in shaping decisions and policies of the society. While appreciating the contribution and role of Hope Disability Centre, Ganderbal in giving mobility and hope for living of the destitute, the Minister said such institutions and organizations have great responsibility in shaping the lives and boosting the aspirations of differently abled persons by making them to believe that they can do whatever other sections of society do. He said HOPE Disability Centre has worked a lot in providing the financial and moral support to disabled persons irrespective of any caste creed and colour. On the occasion, school children presented the mesmerizing cultural programmes besides a short skit depicting issues of differently abled persons. Among others, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Ganderbal, Superintendent of Police Ganderbal, Director Pollution Control Board, Director HDC, officers of Social Welfare, Education, WDC and District Administration Ganderbal, besides a large number of differently abled persons and senior citizens of the Ganderbal district.
