Digha-Sonepur rail-cum-road bridge to be ready by Mar-2015 पटना Patna (PNBE): East Central Railway (ECR) General Manager Mr.Madhuresh Kumar has asked the agencies involved in the fabrication work of the Digha-Sonepur rail-cum-road bridge to expedite their work so that the bridge could be commissioned within the stipulated deadline of March 31, 2015. Kumar said this while inspecting the construction work of the bridge on Tuesday. Chief Administrative Officer (Construction) L M Jha and other IRCON officials were also present on the occasion. In his last visit, 17 out of 36 spans were completed while in the second, 32 spans were found to be completed. The erection work is expected to be completed before December this year. According to ECR GM, railways has adopted a calculated strategy to complete the project in time and dedicate the longest rail-cum-road bridge to the nation by the end of March 2015. Technical experts of railways have been supervising the quality work of the bridge, he said. According to sources, though railways has set the deadline for completion of the work by the end of March 31, 2015, the whole project is likely to be completed at an estimated cost of about Rs 2921.46 crore which includes cost of road construction work on the bridge, sources said.
