Dilemma - brainstorming requested. Our intermediate school boy told us today they have to learn and sing Christmas songs at school. I made all effort to stay calm until I searched the songs - Silent Nights (half ok. Even Simon & Garfunkel had their take of it) but the other one - Hark the herald angels sing. Once I googled the lyrics I found myself fuming. How can a secular school tell kids they are obligated to learn and sing this song? Its not a catholic school! The dilemma - If I ask to excuse him, he might be the only one and singled out. On the other hand, I send him to a secular school because I dont want to deal with these things (!) and what about teaching him to stand for his principals?
