Dinner Day 237 FAITH IS… Leaning back with casual confidence… “Rest in the Lord,/and wait patiently for Him;/Do not fret.” – PSALM 37:7 Faith takes a tough look at rough spots and asks the responsible question: “Is it my fault? Is this the responsibility of my department?” Not long ago I missed a flight to Japan because my visa was not in order. This was serious, for I would be a day late, missing the first series of lectures in Tokyo. Not all the positive thinking and talking in the world could get me on that flight. I had no choice but to wire my host in Japan and express my regrets that I would be arriving a day late. Then I proceeded to lean back, take a casual attitude, and have a great time enjoying this unplanned day of leisure. When I made that decision, my problem was transformed into a joyous experience. Faith is a wise instructor, counseling you to stop torturing yourself with irritating attitudes. Faith is leaning back with casual confidence, letting positive thoughts stroke the stress away until a mellow spirit comes over you softly, gently and peacefully. God is far more concerned about your welfare than you are, for you are His child. He knows how to turn this rough spot into serendipity, a blessing in disguise. Praise Him for His faithful love and concern for you in this trying condition. He understands it so much better than you do! Now that you’ve talked it over with Him, close the door. It’s time to lean back and let God take over. He will handle it in the most responsible way possible. Give yourself a break by believing positively!
