Dinner with my boys proceeds as follows: 1. Justus (4 yr old) volunteers to say the mealtime prayer, in which he blesses all the playdoh creatures he made earlier in the day. There is no mention of food, meals, or family whatsoever. 2. Malachi (18 mos) begins crying when we stop holding hands after Amen. He continues to try to hold hands for several minutes, before finally resorting to fist bumps--which he demands 40-50 of before the end of the meal. Note: Fist bumps only count when there is an explosion afterward. 3. Justus eats his spaghetti & meatballs one noodle at a time, declaring each individual noodle to be a worm. Thanks for every meal like this that we have together, God. Amen.
