Dinosaur of the week! Name: Compsosuchus solu Name Meaning: Single Pretty Crocodile First Described: 1933 Described By: Matley & Huene Classification: Dinosauria, Saurischia, Theropoda, Abelisauria, Noasauridae Compsosuchus is a pretty dubious genus. It was discovered in the Lamenta Formation in India, dating back to 69 million years ago in the Maastrichtian stage of the Late Cretaceous. However it was found in the same deposits as Indosaurus and Indosuchus, described by the same scientist, and all have pretty sparse remains. As such, they might all represent the same genus. It might have been a Noasaur, but if it is the same as the other two genera, it was an Abelisaur instead. It is only known from a few of its neck bones. It also has been described as being a member of the Allosaurs. It was very small, however, about 6 feet long. Most likely, it was an Abelisaur.
