Diploma of Nursing (Enrolled/Division 2 nursing) Course Fee: AUD $22,365 (This fee includes text books at Kingswood campus) Duration: 1.5 years full time Delivery Location: Nepean College (Kingswood campus) February and July intake Entry Requirements Academic: Year 12 or equivalent English: Academic IELTS 6.5 overall with no individual band lower than 6.0 OR Completion of four years full time of education in English at secondary, vocational or tertiary level in Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Republic of Ireland, South Africa, United Kingdom or United States of America OR Achievement of a pass at "A" or "B" level in each of the four components (reading, writing, listening and speaking) of the Occupational English Test (OET) for Nurses Course Description The aim of the course is to provide a qualification for enrolled nursing at diploma level with the competencies to work as an enrolled nurse in a variety of institutional, community and health care settings as an associate to the registered nurse. You will be required to undertake a minimum of 400 hours clinical work placement in a variety of approved clinical facilities. Prior to clinical placement, you should be aware that you will need to undergo occupational screening and be vaccinated against infectious diseases. You will also be required to undertake a Criminal Record Check and complete a Prohibited Employment Declaration. Your teachers will give you further advice. At Nepean College, Kingswood Campus, the course is made up of blocks of theoretical study, which will be run over three days per week, interspersed with clinical practice in a range of health facilities. Work Placement There is a work placement unit of 400 hours in the course. This will be done throughout the course. The teaching section will organise this for you. The clinical placements and assessments at various hospitals in Western Sydney will involve shift work that may be five days per week. Some clinical placements may occur during the TAFE vacation periods as well. Career Opportunities After you finish the course, you must gain registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia if you want to work as an Enrolled Nurse in Australia. To gain registration you must demonstrate English language proficiency and sufficient physical and mental capacity to practise as a nurse in a range of health care facilities. NOTE: Graduates who want to work in Australia, must meet the registration standards as outlined by the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
