Diplomacy is a step in a process- but it has an end game. There are those that diplomacy is wasted on. One can attempt to discuss resolution when there are reasonable people partaking in the discussion. Resolving conflict peacefully only works when BOTH sides prefer peace rather than violence. We have witnessed, time and again, that the extremists are not interested in peacefully resolving anything, yet we continue to worry about appearances, and our potential loss of face within the realm of civilized societies/nations. These people (using the term loosely) cannot be reasoned with, cannot be driven to peaceful solutions by embargoes, sanctions or being shamed into it by world opinions. We have but one option- Fight back. I can think of no other image(s) that personify their mindset than of this tragic video- Showing the execution of a defenseless Policeman on his back, hands up. Reasoning is not in the equation for them. While we have been so critical of our warriors/protectors, we desperately need them. If they were true believers, why are they wearing masks? Those that promote anarchy and mayhem are among us. Fear is certain, but to react- violently and with intent is the only manner in which to respond to these-
