Dipyramidal zircon from the Granite Mountain Number 3 Quarry, - TopicsExpress

Dipyramidal zircon from the Granite Mountain Number 3 Quarry, Saline County, Arkansas. The zircons are a pale pinkish-brown, but are overcoated with a fine layer of quartz. These pockets contain zircon, aegirine, analcite, various carbonates, fluorite, monazite, catapleiite and aeschynite (plus other unidentified things). The pockets form in a coarse lavenite syenite that is highly altered by late fluids and few of the pockets are free of the quartz overcoating. FOV is about 1.25 X 1.25 mm. Imaged with a Canon 40D, 30mm B&L microscope objective and stacked with Combine Z software.
