Director Position Description Applications Due: August 5, 2013 Project Description: Ithaca Community Harvest (ICH) is a collaborative effort of a diverse group, representing a number of local organizations and initiatives concerned with food security, education, health, sustainable community development and leadership development. Our purpose is to strengthen collaboration amongst food justice and sustainability leaders in our efforts to build local food sovereignty and consciously harmonize our programming to serve as a model for the systems approach needed in our broader society. Project: Ithaca Community Harvest (ICH) Position: Director Location(s): Remote. Time Period: 12 months. August 2013-July 2014, contingent upon funding. Potential for extension pending Steering Committee review. Hours: 780 hours total = Avg. 15 hours/week; flex (as needed). Position may include some evening and weekend hours. Hourly Wage: $18.00/hour Benefits: Health Benefits- None. Position Description: The Ithaca Community Harvest Director will be a leader in the ongoing development of ICH’s innovative food access programs and facilitate ICH’s many collaborations with other programs and organizations. Primary responsibilities will be management of the $80,000 program budget including securing funds, maintaining records and completing reports, as well as staff supervision and support, coordination of monthly Steering Committee meetings and website management. The position provides opportunity for growth pending development of new funding sources and programmatic success. Contract renewal pending successful program development, fundraising and Steering Committee review. Qualifications: Budget management experience. Successful track record of securing grant funds from local and/or national foundations. Volunteer and staff supervision experience. Skilled in social network use and website management. Demonstrated ability to facilitate successful inter-organizational collaboration. Effective and resourceful interpersonal skills (including ability to effectively communicate with children, parents, administrators, program managers and funders). Positive attitude. Ability to work independently and to lead a team. Working knowledge of Microsoft applications, including Word and Excel, and Google Drive. Effective meeting coordination. Familiarity with the Beverly J. Martin Elementary School (BJM), Greater Ithaca Activities Center (GIAC), and Southside Community Center (SSCC) communities preferred. Roles & Responsibilities: ● Oversee all ICH programs and collaborations; set and evaluate milestones. ● Convene ICH Steering Committee monthly meetings, co-facilitate discussion and establish democratic decision making process. ● Work with Steering Committee to identify leverage points to strengthen collaboration amongst community programs and activities with similar food access, sustainability and equity goals ● Develop a diversified funding portfolio to sustain the project; secure funding via grant writing, donor cultivation and annual appeal, fundraising events and entrepreneurial projects. ● Oversee and track all program expenditure and budgets. ● Establish contractual agreements / Memorandums of Understanding as necessary. ● Create interim and annual reports for funders, organizational partners and fiscal sponsor. ● Oversee external relations including online presence and the production of quarterly newsletter; maintain communication with project collaborators, the public, funders and stakeholders.
