Director of Human Resources Reporting to the Chief Administrative Officer the Director of Human Resources manages and leads the implementation, development and maintenance of all human resource programs for the City of Iqaluit. The Director of Human Resources provides expert advice, training and guidance to all departments concerning staff relations, accurate interpretation of the Collective Agreement, Human Rights legislation, terms and conditions of employment and alternative dispute resolution. The incumbent conducts investigations, acts as a mediator, and prepares and presents cases at grievances, arbitrations and other tribunals as assigned. This position also manages the labour relations processes within the City and ensures that discipline procedures are developed and maintained and that grievances and disputes are resolved appropriately. Minimum Qualifications •Bachelor’s degree in the Human Resources field •At least 5 years supervisory experience •Knowledge of collective agreements and terms/conditions of employment •Proven understanding of employment/employer relations practices preferably in a Unionized environment •Strong understanding of labour relations including grievances, arbitrations and human rights issues •Excellent human resource management, leadership, administrative and organizational skills •Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills •Must possess strong organizational and management skills •Ability to speak Inuktitut The annual salary for this position is $111,735.48, an annual Settlement Allowance of $22,378.31 and an excellent benefits package.
