Disability screening camps and distribution of AIDS and Appliances held at Mangan MANGAN, August, 30: District Disability Rehabilitation Centre (DDRC), Social Justice, Empowerment and Welfare department, Government of Sikkim under AIDIP of Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India. Funded by Sarva Siksha Abhiyan (SSA), HRDD, Government of Sikkim organized Disability screening camps and Distribution of AIDS and Appliances held at Mangan district hospital, North district, on August 29th. The camps recorded total 388 patients from North and out of that total 81 disable cards were issued and AIDS and Appliances- elbow crutches, wheel chairs, walking sticks, hearing machine were also distributed to health card holders. In the morning session the DM(N), CP Dhakal coordinated by Zilla Adhyaksha(N), Anguli Lepcha, Joint secretary, SJE&WD, AB Pradhan, CMO(N), Dr.DS Kerongi, Joint Director, HRDD, Sonam Lepcha, State coordinator, SSA, Prem Narayan Pradhan (IE), Specialists, ENT, Orthopedic and ASHA members handed over the AIDS and Appliances to few of the patients. After screening the certificates were also provided to patients and the entitles have to be enrolled in Indira Gandhi National Disability Pension (IGNDP) scheme and enrolled in subsistence allowances, but the benefits, allowances will only be provided to COI holders only. In this matter few of the registered patients reacting and talking with media said that its the central government scheme and the facilities should be provided to all the Indian citizens, otherwise how the central government target and goals will reach the destination. State coordinator, SSA, informed Media that, Inclusive Association Volunteers (IAV), imparts with Child with Special Needs (CWSN) every year up to elementary education.
