Katy ISD Addresses Questions from Recent Unauthorized Email to Parents October 21, 2014 Dear Katy ISD parents, Yesterday evening you may have received an email from a representative of a political action committee (PAC). As you know, this past September representatives from two local PACs, both pro- and opposition, erroneously received parent email addresses in response to a request for directory information. Since then, Katy ISD has implemented remedies to minimize the potential for such mistakes in the future. We also immediately urged the representatives of these two PACs to discard the list they received and honor the privacy of our parents. The pro- PAC promptly replied that they would comply with the request and we were optimistic the other PAC would follow suit. Unfortunately, we have learned that a representative of the opposition PAC has decided to utilize the email addresses in spite of our previous request. We apologize that you have experienced this and we will once again request the representative of that PAC to discard and cease utilization of the email list currently in that individual’s possession.
