Disaster Preparedness and the Museum - the continuing effort to protect the Countys treasures! The museum is continuing its effort to be disaster prepared. Through the efforts of our archivist, Cheryl Roffe, and her collaborative skills, we were able to remove our decomposing nitrate negative collection earlier this month (keep your ears open to KLCC- Jes Burns interviewed her this morning and will air a segment on Friday during All Things Considered!). This was part of our overall risk assessment survey and implementation of hazardous materials removal in the museum. Over the last month we have also been accumulating supplies for our disaster barrels, another important part in planning how we may best respond to the collections during a disaster. Thanks to the generosity of the Green Acres Wal-Mart management and staff we were able to complete the barrels this afternoon.
