God is much more interested in us becoming like Him than He is in our comfort and pleasure! So, if He needs to make us go through fire and water – there we shall go, willingly or others (you can ask Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, Daniel 3 ), or like Daniel into the lions’ den, Daniel 6. 1 Peter 1:7, That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ.. There is no chastisement that is actually pleasant at the time of occurrence; Hebrews 12:11, Now no chastening for the present seemeth to be joyous, but grievous: nevertheless afterward it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto them which are exercised thereby. All the stories we read and have heard about that have happy endings were not pleasant for those who went through them and experienced those things firsthand.
