Disclaimer: Im not trying to be politically correct, rather Im being biblically correct. As egregious as the Ray Rice footage is of him hitting his now wife, I still firmly believe he should not be further punished. He was punished by the NFL, he already faced the public embarrassment for what he had done, and hes already publicly repented of what he did. It is not his fault the NFL did not do its due diligence before coming down with his punishment. The truth of the matter is many of us have loved ones who got off much lighter than the magnitude of the wrong in which they committed. In the Christian world, we use such terms as grace, mercy, & favor to describe such an occurrence. Doesnt Ray Rice in spite of what he did still have access to the same grace, mercy, & favor? Shouldnt he be able to move on with his life as many of us have been able to move on with ours after repenting of our sins? Just imagine if we repented of a sin that was not initially seen in public and then footage of that sin became available, then God decided to reverse His forgiveness to punish us all over again because the sin was now made public. How would we feel? Those people who want an even tougher penalty towards Ray Rice now because of the footage are wanting something that they would not want God to do to them.
