I was hoping for a Boogie Nights/54 style movie and although it starts that way, set in the 70’s with good music, roller skates and nightclubs, it switches to the 80’s before too long. It’s nicely shot in a retro style and has some good gore scenes but the acting is poor. I can imagine that if you were in a drunken state and watched it as a homage to VHS movies you might enjoy it but I thought it came up short in terms of both scares and flares.
