COME PAINT WITH US THIS SUMMER in THE STUDIOS @ SUNBURY SHORES ART ESCAPE Jay Dampf June 30 – July 4 Escape the creative confines of a highly structured art class and participate in a unique course where each student is taught in the media and style of their own choosing. Jay Dampf has been utilizing the methods of individual demonstration at Sunbury Shores for over thirty years. For this course bring ideas and reference material so that you can create images that mean something to you. All levels of skill from absolute beginner to advanced will learn a great deal from demonstrations given to others as well. Students will have an opportunity to contact the instructor prior to the course so that he may best help you prepare for a most enjoyable Art Escape. Course Only: $350.00 +HST (minimum 5 students) CREATING AN IMPRESSION Jay Dampf July 7 - July 11 The goal of Impressionism is to capture the feel and emotional impact of the subject portrayed rather than just creating a literal depiction of it. In this course, every level of painter will learn how to free up their hand and mind towards a more exuberant and forgiving style of painting. This is an excellent opportunity for absolute beginners as instruction is easygoing and highly individual. You may choose to work in the studio or outside with oils or acrylics as the recommended media. Course Only: $350.00 +HST (minimum 5 students) ACRYLICS – THE REALM OF THE ABSTRACT Don Pentz July 27 - July 31 (Sunday - Thursday) This workshop will concern itself with two challenging and exciting art-making topics: Abstract and Nonrepresentational painting. Through commentary, visual presentations, hands-on projects, compositional exercises, collage, and creative thinking, participants will have an opportunity to explore and draw from the artist that lies within, whatever their level of experience. Much of what encompasses the abstract approach to art making is applicable to landscape painting. This workshop provides a means to broaden your horizons and dig deeper into your creative soul. Course Only: $350.00 +HST (minimum 5 students) PLEIN AIR PAINTING Michael Chesley Johnson August 1 - August 3 In this three-day workshop, students will spend time out in the field gathering reference material with cameras, sketchbooks and limited palettes, and then go to the studio to create finished works from the references. Michael will cover the basics in necessary gear and materials and explain key concepts in gathering reference material; demonstrate in the field what photos and sketches will be most helpful; and then in the studio, demonstrate how to use the reference materials in creating compositional and color studies and ultimately a finished painting. Students will have plenty of opportunity to create their own finished paintings under Michaels eye. Michael will work in oil or pastel, but students may work in any medium. Course Only: $220.00 +HST (minimum 5 students) ACRYLICS - ADVENTURES IN THE WORLD AROUND US Andrew Giffin August 18 - August 22 all levels Join this well known New Brunswick acrylic artist on a creative adventure. Andrew paints the world around him. He will take students outside to get ideas for the painting they will do indoors and work with participants to enable them to communicate not just the physical detail of their subject, but the atmospheric elements and the hidden forces that permeate the land and air and determine the quality of light, and our emotional response to the subject.
