Discourse-changing narrative To borrow a phrase from Paul Krugman, the work done by Javed Ahmad Ghamidi can be defined as discourse-changing scholarship. He achieved what others, from Sir Syed to Ghulam Ahmed Pervez and a host of others in between tried and failed miserably. In fact, it would be correct to say that he has brought a paradigm shift as revolutionary as what Einstein did to Newtonian physics with his general theory of relativity. The only difference is that the Newtonian model is still relevant and becomes a special case of Eisensteinian model for certain conditions, the archaic viewpoint of the clergy will be best remembered as an aberration when a clergy took hold of the religion where none was called for. Only if the conventional ulema realize and adopt this new frame of reference can they hope to keep up with the new narrative. An impossible task judging by their rigid ways and even more rigid mindset. To be continued...
