More often than not a third party endorsement can be the best thing for a wine, particularly as drinkers so often tire quickly of hearing us producers wax lyrical about our favourite wines and how they can go well with certain foods (blah blah blah...). The Wine Critic reviews certainly keep us honest. Today’s offer however is for a new release wine so we haven’t had time yet to submit to solicit the opinion of any esteemed critics. Rest assured however the 2011 Sandalford Margaret River Range Shiraz does however have great pedigree (an earlier vintage for example won 3 Trophies at the Australian National Wine Show in Canberra a few years back and with it the unofficial then title of Australia’s greatest red wine). This wine was made from some very special fruit grown under the ever watchful eye of Peter Traeger (Sandalford’s long time Chief Viticulture guy – that’s him insert right) at out famous 40 year old vineyard in Margaret River. It’s the same vineyard that is home to our now world famous Estate Reserve and Prendiville Reserve ranges.
