Discovered today that the matter of the quarry extension DA 9255 before Bellingen Shire Council is back on the table with a recission motion being brought on NOT till Thursday 10th October ...no time yet. This development will see an increase in 32 tonne truck movements down the mountain road, through the Gordonville crossing and the heart of our town potentially every 7 minutes. The reason given for the Mayor and one other Council putting this decision made NOT to approve this development is because there is a quarry on the edge of the Shire at Hernani which would immediately approve any application and trucks would still come down the mountain. We must call for an immediate meeting with the Regional office of Roads and Maritime and ask for clarity on how they monitor the number of trucks that can safely come down the mountain. An increase from six to two hundred is scary for many people especially the school bus driver. Please mail your Councillors and the Chamber if you are in business.
