Discuss: It is cheaper to buy, for example, red peppers, tomatoes, or heavy cream at Costco instead of local groceries, even accounting for the inevitable waste that occurs when buying Costco quantities for a 2 person household. Which is more logical: spending less while creating more waste or spending more and eliminating most waste? Which is more ethical and why? Keep in mind this time of year in Alaska, we have virtually no local sources of produce and dairy; pretty much everything is shipped in.
